Located in a 100 hectares estate on the outskirts of the historic town of Pau in the Béarn, in the Aquitaine region, situated on the edge of a forest next to 50 hectares of lakes close to the Gave de Pau you will find this excellent holiday chalet site.
There is fishing for Carp and Sturgeon, Predator fishing for Pike, Catfish, Perch & Black Bass, fly-fishing and coarse angling on the lakes close to your chalet. The area is excellent for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and countryside lovers will enjoy the scenery surrounding the lake where you will discover the most beautiful collection of willow trees (50 varieties) in Europe and you can walk to the town of Pau via a path along the Gave in the Saligue.
Your chalet is located close to the forest facing the lakes where you are in the middle of the countryside but have the advantages of the city close to the estate with plenty of activities such as horseriding, paint balling, golf, tennis, squash, bowling, karting, plenty of restaurants and shopping at Carrefour and Lescar Soleil supermarkets only 5 minutes from the site with the Pyrenees only 30 minutes away.
The Domaine d'Iktus is located in France in what is called the 'Great South West Area' in Aquitaine, in the Béarn, at the foot of the Pyrenees, at the gates of Pau, on the charming small commune of Laroin, between mountains and the ocean, 1 hour away from Spain and the Basque Coast.
The city of Lourdes, hotbed of Christianity is about 50 km from the estate and the city of Lescar with its cathedral, one of the stages to Compostelle is less than 5 km away. On the hillside, the vines of the of the Jurancon vineyards are very close to Laroin, the wine-growers will offer the different grape variety particularly appreciated by wine lovers.
You can also visit the historic centre of Pau with its castle, birthplace of King Henry IV, by taking a path along the Gave de Pau. You will be able to admire the magnificent flowers of the public gardens and the amazing view of the Pyrenees. Along the Gave de Pau you will also enjoy the interesting fauna and flora of the wetlands that we call the Saligue, with abundant wildlife including Grey Herons, Great Crested Grebes and Great and Little Egrets.
Without having to cross any road, going over the pedestrian footbridge above the Gave de Pau, you will find the pony club where everybody who like to ride will have a excellent time.
Before leaving the Béarn do not forget to taste our culinary specialities, particularly the Garbure (cabbage soup) and the Poule au Pot (chicken stuffed with vegetables and bacon stew) that you will enjoy with our Jurancon wine.
